Hey guys! :) Sorry I have not posted anything lately, I’ve been so swamped with homework and I think I’ve actually come down with some sort of weird cold/flu bug.

Now that I have a reason to ‘rest’, I decided to come up with a weekly post called ‘Work on It Wednesdays’. I will be writing shortly about something small that I need to improve on or accomplish within that coming week. I will report my progress along with my new goal the following week, and so on and so forth. :)

Haha! I guess I’m kind of cheating, but posting regularly is hard to fit in with a schedule like mine, mostly because I am a chronic procrastinator and have been sleeping a lot more than I should be (which will probably be things I will work on in the future WoIW!!)

If you guys want to join me in improving on a certain small thing, go right ahead! :) (It doesn’t have to be big!! Smaller is probably better, since it’ll be easier to achieve with only a week.) Tag your post with #workonitwednesday so we can all share our progress with each other! :)

Hey guys!

I’ve been thinking a lot about what a blog is and what this blog is and what I want it to be. I’ve come to a conclusion. :)

So, I decided I wanted this blog to be more of a blog rather than an accumulation of fandoms and pretty reblogs and nothing original or personal. I want to reach out to you guys, to have you guys learn about me as I learn about you.

This is my blog’s fresh start.

I want to put more of my artwork up here, share more of my life with you guys, and be able to get to know you guys {you are my followers! I should know my audience :)}

I will keep reblogging pretty things I like, but not as many, and will tag them as such. {i.e. ‘pretty things’} I will also {probably} post/reblog fandom things in the future, so if you’d like to opt out now, I will be tagging them as ‘fandom’.

I’m excited to start this new journey with you guys. If you don’t end up liking this change, then you are free to come and go as you’d like. :) If you decide to stay for the ride, then I’m happy to have you and please don’t be shy! :) {I’d love a ‘hello’ message, if you’d like to send one!}

As much as I miss my kids in SA, I am currently going to a pretty cool school. Today, my whole class left the building to go to an art gallery in the third ward. It was this beautiful small space with brick walls and white walls, textured flooring, mismatched art, and even a dog. I could tell that my whole class was just marveling at what we hoped would be our futures. 

As we left, Brenna asked what I thought about putting my portraits from SA in a space like that. I told her I would never put my pictures of the kids in a gallery on white walls. They deserve so much more than that. I would be suffocating them. I want my work to be a part of peoples everyday. I need people to see, and hear their voices through photographs. That is my desire, to tell stories visually, but this isn’t a one time deal where people walk through a gallery and call it a day. I need people to understand, I need them to look at the reality of peoples lives daily. 

I dont know where my work belongs, but I know it is meant to be seen. These faces need to be remembered. 

Ask to display them somewhere in the school. People walk past the artwork in the school all the time, everyday. I see the same pictures everyday in the entrance area of MIAD and after a while, I start thinking about it. :) Just ask, you never know! Good luck :)
